Curriculum Tutor (Samba)

Jon is one of Norfolk’s foremost Samba leaders, teaching in schools across the county.  As well as running a number of long-standing samba clubs, he also leads Norfolk Community Arts’ children’s band, the Elephant Bloco.

A multi-skilled musician Jon’s love of Samba drumming started when he joined Norwich Samba, which he was part of for over ten years, including a stint as musical director.  In 2008, he was one of the founder members of Rabo de Foguete, an 11-piece band performing a range of contemporary and traditional Brazilian music, which included the chance to work with members of Rio bloco, Monobloco.

Piano is actually Jon’s first instrument, but he also an accomplished singer, writer and arranger, with a long history of performing in bands, such as Magic Johnson.  ​
