Double Bass Tutor

Vilem has worked for more than 13 years as a musician and teacher. Czech by birth, he has been in the UK since 2002.  He has played in small ensembles and big bands, for various occasions and settings, including jazz clubs, concerts halls, festivals and on the radio and television – in the UK, Europe, India and Dubai.

His playing and teaching experience covers many musical styles, including classical music, jazz, R&B, Caribbean and Latin. During his studies at conservatoire, he attended seminars on teaching techniques and the psychology of learning, which he seeks to apply to his work.  Whilst in the Czech Republic, he was involved in many educational concerts, in primary and secondary schools, whilst also working as a freelance double bass and bass guitar tutor. Since moving to the UK he has been working as a freelance bass and bass guitar tutor.

Vilem says, “my favourite music is anything played by jazz pianist Brad Mehldau.”
