Norwich Summer Sessions (formerly Head Out Not Home) is a festival of music and street theatre, taking place across the city centre during July and August.  It is commissioned by Norwich BID and programmed and delivered by Norfolk Community Arts.

Norwich Summer Sessions will be back with a 7-week festival in 2024. Due to popular demand we will be revisiting running the event on a Thursday evening, with a hybrid offer of Thursdays in July (11, 18 & 25) and Sundays in August (4, 11, 18 & 25).

Please note that the programme can change due to circumstances beyond our control, such as the weather.  Please check our social media and that of our partners for updates, e.g. (@NorwichBIDUK, @VisitNorwich)

Norwich Summer Sessions offers an eclectic mix of established local bands, exciting regional or national acts, world renowned street theatre and up-and-coming local artists, all suitable for a family audience.

The festival is not possible without our amazing team of festival staff and volunteers.  Please get in touch if you are interested in getting involved.

If you have a band or a street theatre act and are interested in performing, then please get in touch.

We have created a Spotify playlist of the bands performing in 2024. This only plays in preview mode on our website but if you have Spotify you can access via you own log in. (Please note that a few of the bands do not have material on Spotify).

Norwich Summer Sessions supports up-and-coming artists, especially young people.   Our Platform stage runs on a number of weeks each year to offer performance slots to these artists. We often work with partners to promote this opportunity. Platform partners include Access Creative College, Norwich Arts Centre, Norfolk Music Hub and Young Norfolk Arts Trust.

In 2024, there will be two Platform weeks, working with New Noise for one and Access Creative College for the other. More details are available on the Event page for those weeks.
